I questioned it before, but my decision was correct. There's a lot of things I know now about coupling people. For one, you must belong to a similar filial backgrounds. You must eat the same. You must have identical spiritual beliefs. You must make similar incomes (if applicable). You must have equal sex-drives. Your ideas of recreation must match. If none of these match up, your relationship will fail.
