Don't read this if you don't give a shit about art. This is a rant about San Francisco art industry:

The crap that comes out of this city is colossal. That's the one thing san Francisco doesn't have on New York. A. The gallerys are literally awful. B. The art is colossally bad.

What is bad? The predominance of comic-related "street" art. Everyone calls it "lowbrow" which in itself is such a dumb name. In the past five years I've lived here this style hasn't changed. It involves innocuous images of monsters, cartoons, and comic-looking characters with graffiti-like designs everywhere. Aint these people coming up with something new?

OK. I guess some people would have thought this was cool early on when it was capitalized by a few originals ages ago. But it is so passe and overdone by everyone now.

The kind of people who do it are awful. Either they're poor but they want to be rich but they damn the rich even though they're spending all their money on looks or they're rich and in denial and have shame for their cash and pretend to be street!

Maybe that's why I can't stand the scene. It's all a bunch of kids with identy-crisis'--I'm proud of being white but that's one place where White people need to just shut the fuck up get their shit together--their fucking identities: LOOK, YOU AINT BLACK. LOOK YOU AINT BROKE. STOP HATING THE PRIVILEGE YOU GOT.
