I am blessed to be living here. Strolling back from North Beach after dining with my friend I considered the luck of my life.

Surrounding me are skyskrapers. The checkerboard lights of the windows glow yellow and the lights that festoon the avenues are heavenly.

There is something about this landscape that makes me maudlin. I feel as if I'm in a movie always.

I live here. In the middle of it all. I own property. I turn in an alley and arrive. A glass door before me, I punch in the code. I ride the elevator and am home.

It is unbelievable.
